Cine MAA Awards 2008

Chiranjeevi all praises for Nagarjuna

That Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna share a healthy friendship is a known fact. One got to see a bit of that friendly rapport at the Cine MAA awards held on 23rd March at Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Stadium. “I am not much of a businessman but I trust Nagarjuna’s instinct as one. That is why when he asked me join the MAA TV group I could not refuse.” On why neither of them where nominated in the best actor category Chiranjeevi was quick to say “Nagarjuna said that it would not be proper for us to stay in best actor contention as we are part of the board of directors. That is why we have opted out of it. It was Nagarjuna who said that we need to encourage the younger lot of actors. Hats off to Nagarjuna” Chiranjeevi said and on a lighter vein asked Nagarjuna if it was ok to contend for best actor two years from now.

Brahmanandam unravels career secret at Cine MAA awards
This year’s Cine MAA awards was event full in more than one ways. One such eventful moment was when veteran comedian and character actor Brahmanandam was felicitated on stage for becoming a part of the Guinness Book of World Records. After being felicitated when Brahmanandam took the mike to speak Chiranjeevi hurriedly took the mike away and had the comedian move around the stage for some time before he told the reason behind the small banter and related a small story “when I was shooting for my film Chantabbai in Vizag, on one particular day one man from the public gathering constantly stared at me in a very particular manner and that made me very conscious and I could not deliver the scene properly” Chiranjeevi related “so I asked him to move out of there. Later after the shoot director Jandhyala introduced the same man to me saying that he was a lecturer from Athili. I apologized to Brahmanandam and told him that we will meet up later in the evening. In the evening Brahmanandam entertained us with his mimicry and skits. I was very impressed and said that Athili or Palakollu was not the place for an artist like him and took him to Madras with me. That is how Brahmanandam started his career.” Chiranjeevi finished off by asking Brahmanandam if that is what he wanted to say or was there anything else. “You told everything sir. What is left for me to say” was Brahmanandam’s reply that had the entire stadium in splits. Brahmanandam thanked Chiranjeevi for encouraging him in this profession and said that it was because of Chiranjeevi’s encouragement that he was able to entertain the audiences all these years.
